France - World Cup Preview
History in the World Cup
France have been World Cup regulars for much of history. They have made 14 previous appearances at World Cups. winning it at home in 1998 and were losing finalists in Germany '06. That Zidane inspired team, also collected a European Championship in between those tournaments. Their recent history has been shrouded in controversy, with a player revolt during the 2010 edition and fractured squad and blackmailing controversies plaguing them ever since.
France have never won more games in a qualifying campaign. Their form in the last two years has been great - 7 wins in 11 games. There are points for concern as they have drawn against Luxembourg and Germany and lost to Sweden and Colombia in that time frame - not very impressive results. Didier Deschamps claims that he has completely tested his squad in every respect and is confident in his 23, even though, there are a few big names missing.

In case you didn't know, Kylian Mbappe is a special, special player and is getting better every game. He's scored 29 goals in 70 Ligue Un appearances for Monaco and PSG, at a rate of 0.6 non-penalty goals per 90 mins. He's got electric pace and better-than-decent chance creation numbers for a forward. His two partners at PSG are more specialized, Cavani is expected to score more goals and Neymar is expected to get more assists but Mbappe does both at an unreal rate.
